8 solid hours of sleep last night. Heaven. But it still didn't do the trick adjusting our body clocks. On the way to Union Square station we were pretty much fast asleep.
Sohan had another go at the coffee - Starbucks didn't disappoint as much the second time. It also fixed the sleepy-ness.
Although it took over an hour to get to Universal Studios, we were pretty impressed with ourselves for figuring out how to get there. Upon arrival we were super excited to get on the rides, but were recommended to begin with the studio tour. That's where we went to see all the different sets where get film stuff. Guys. Seriously. Most of the movies and TV shows we watch are filmed at this place, they reuse buildings and just change up the decorations to make it look different. THE SAME SET WAS USED TO REPRESENT ITALY, GERMANY AND INDIA. INDIA!! What the hell?! Pretty crazy, but super interesting to see. Our tour guide was really friendly, and we were very appreciative. Despite the fact that she was paid to be friendly. But that's besides the point!
We also discovered that people with an unhealthy fondness for food are incapable of walking and need their 11 year old children to push them around in wheelchairs. Marni got extremely angry at one particular lady who was in the way, not moving and complaining really loudly. Ugh. Americans.
When it was time for lunch, (Mexican again of course), we had another Marni angry moment with a sly man who pushed in the line. We were waiting for about 15 minutes for our burritos and tascadas and he pushed in between us and just didn't move. Marni gave him a death stare, but to no avail. However the Mexican was deeee-lish!
RIDES! Despite the super massive lines (Transformers 3D was a 90 minute wait!), we went on the Mummy ride (based on the movie) which was awesome fun, scary and kinda surprising too. Our photo in the end was Marni smiling beautifully, Rachel looking surprised with her mouth wide open and Sohan with her hands on her face covering her vision. The second ride was Jurassic Park where we were splashed with water a little against our will and then dropped like 6 metres and were splashed all over again. Being in the front row did NOT help.
On the way to Hollywood, a few interesting events happened. When Marni was buying her train ticket, she didn't have the right change, only a $20. After refusing Sohan's fiver, she put the 20 dollar bill into the ticket machine expecting change in 1 dollar bills or 1 dollar coins or something reasonable like that. No. Turns out Americans are weird with ticket machines too, because Marni got $18.50 worth of change in quarters. That's 25c coins. An on-looker congratulated her for winning the lottery and then proceeded to ask us for a dollar. We gave it to him.
After getting off at the wrong stop, we were offered fireworks, drugs, gum, a date and music by a myriad of strangers. Yeah, we left pretty quickly.
Our visit to Hollywood was fun but somewhat brief. We met Darth Vader, Michael Jackson, the transformers, Spongebob, Micky-Mouse and Yoda (who was actually a little kid... Rachel was sad, so young!)
Italian for dinner and forgetting the incredibly large serving sizes, we each ordered a huge pizza, far too much! By the end we were exhausted and could barely walk.
About to crash as we speak..
Until tomorrow,
Marni, Rachel and Sohan.
